1. Mobile Health App Development Marathon

The Mobile Health App Development Marathon aims to encourage students to create innovative and impactful mobile applications that contribute to improving health outcomes, tracking health metrics, or enhancing patient-doctor communication. The competition focuses on usability, user experience, and real-world impact.

Eligibility Criteria

The guidelines and eligibility criteria ensure a fair and competitive environment while encouraging students to leverage their skills and creativity in improving health outcomes through mobile technology.

Participant Status:

  • Participants must be enrolled as full-time students in a recognized educational institution at the time of registration.
  • Both undergraduate and graduate students from various disciplines are eligible to participate.

Team Composition:

  • Teams may consist of 3 members.
  • Interdisciplinary teams combining students with diverse skills (e.g., programming, design, healthcare) are encouraged.

Development Platform:

  • Mobile applications must be developed for either iOS, Android, or cross-platform environments.
  • Teams have the flexibility to choose the development tools and programming languages of their preference.

Usability and Impact:

  • Emphasize user-centric design and usability in the app development process.
  • Clearly demonstrate how the mobile app addresses a specific health challenge and its potential impact on users.
Registration
  • Teams must register for the competition by the 30th April 2024. A 100 $ registration fee per member should be paid only if your team get selected for the final round.
  • Provide Team members’ names, contact information, Organization/ University, and a brief proposal of the proposed mobile health app.
Idea Submission
  • Teams must submit a comprehensive proposal outlining their mobile health app concept, including its purpose, features, and intended impact on or before the 30th April 2024. Only seven teams will be short listed for the final round.
  • Clearly articulate how the app addresses health outcomes, tracks metrics, or facilitates communication between patients and doctors.
  • Teams are required to submit a functional prototype or demo video showcasing the key features of their mobile health app with the proposal
  • The prototype should highlight the app’s usability, functionality, and its potential impact on health outcomes.
Judging Criteria

  • Judges may also consider the scalability and sustainability of the proposed mobile health app.
Presentation
  • Selected seven (7) teams will have the opportunity to present their mobile health app to a panel of judges at the main event.

Submission:

  • Individual submissions are also accepted
  • The competition is open to team submissions

  • Each team or individual may submit one healthcare policy proposal for consideration.

  • Each team or Individual may submit their Nutrition and Wellness Plan Design/Proposal for consideration on or before the 30th April 2024. only seven teams will be shortlisted for the final round at the event.

  • Examples include plans for managing diabetes, promoting cardiovascular health, addressing nutritional needs in aging populations, or other relevant health concerns.

Cultural Representation:

  • Performances must represent a specific culture or a fusion of cultures.
  • Participants are encouraged to explore and showcase the diversity of traditions, customs, and artistic expressions from around the world.
Performance Categories
  • Accepted performance categories include dance, theater, music, spoken word, or any other cultural art form.
  • Participants can choose the category that best aligns with their artistic expression.
Cultural Context
  • Emphasize the cultural context of the performance.
  • Provide a brief explanation or introduction to help the audience understand the cultural significance and meaning behind the performance.
Creativity and Originality
  • Encourage creativity and originality in the interpretation of cultural elements.
  • Participants are welcome to infuse modern or innovative elements while respecting the authenticity of the cultural representation.
Costumes and Props
  • Costumes and props should align with the cultural theme of the performance.
  • Participants are encouraged to pay attention to details that enhance the visual representation of the chosen culture.
Duration
  • Performances should have a duration of 5 to 10 minutes.
  • This timeframe allows for a captivating representation while accommodating the overall schedule of the competition.
Language and Respect
  • Performances should use respectful and inclusive language.
  • Be mindful of cultural sensitivities and avoid any elements that may be offensive or inappropriate.
Adjudication
  • Performances will be evaluated by a panel of judges with expertise in cultural arts or related fields.
  • Judging criteria may include cultural authenticity, creativity, performance quality, and audience engagement.
Code of Conduct
  • Participants must adhere to ethical guidelines and respect cultural diversity.
  • Any performances deemed disrespectful or inappropriate will result in disqualification.
Recording and Submissions
  • Participants may submit recorded performances for virtual competitions by 30th April 2024.
  • In live competitions, only the selected performances will be presented on stage.
Registration
  • Teams must register for the competition by the 30th April 2024. A 100 $ registration fee per member should be paid only if your team get selected for the final round.
  • Provide Team members’ names, contact information, Organization/ University, and a recorded video of the performance.
Prizes
  • Cash Prizes include recognition, certificate, and potential exposure to industry professionals.
  • First three places will be selected from each competition and the prizes will be arranged as below.
    • 1st Place: 300 USD
    • 2nd Place: 200 USD
    • 3rd Place: 100 USD

The Social Media Influencer Challenge invites students to create impactful social media campaigns or content, including posts, videos, or infographics, focused on health topics. The competition aims to harness the power of social media to promote health awareness, education, and engagement.

Individuals or Teams:

  • Content can be created by teams.
  • Teams may consist of 3 members, encouraging collaborative efforts in crafting compelling social media campaigns.

Social Media Platforms:

  • Participants can choose to focus their campaigns on popular social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, or YouTube.
  • Specify the chosen platform(s) for the campaign.

Health Topic Focus:

  • Campaigns must address a specific health topic or issue.
  • Topics can include but are not limited to mental health, physical well-being, preventive care, nutrition, fitness, or public health awareness.

Content Formats:

  • Acceptable content formats include posts, videos, infographics, or a combination of these.
  • Participants are encouraged to leverage the strengths of the chosen platform(s) for maximum impact.

Audience Engagement:

  • Emphasize audience engagement and interactivity in the campaign.
  • Encourage followers to share, comment, or participate in discussions related to the health topic.

  • Ensure that the content is accurate, evidence-based, and credible.
  • Reference reliable sources when presenting health information and avoid spreading misinformation.

Campaign Duration
